Meet John Stark Sub Dave Hamilton

Meet John Stark Sub Dave Hamilton

“I like teenagers, and I don’t like daytime TV,” laughed Dave Hamilton, who subs almost daily at John Stark Regional High School.
Dave has been substitute teaching at John Stark off and on for the last 12 years following his retirement from a long, diverse career. He has been an English teacher and a school superintendent, worked in research and development with a Swiss company, and for one year, he was a cattle rancher.
“I used to sub around at various schools in the area, but now I only go to John Stark.  When he thinks back to when he returned to NH after more than a decade in Colorado and Oregon, he wishes he’d bought a home in Henniker or Weare. “I think my children would have had a much better experience and education at John Stark had we lived in the district.”
“I like teenagers because they think differently than I do,”  he commented. "I discovered years ago while serving in the Army in Germany that I have an appreciation for the thoughts of others, especially those that differ from mine. I realized others have just as good a reason for their ideas as I have for mine.”
“I’m happy doing what I am doing and hope to continue doing it for a long time.”

We hope so, too, Mr. H. We hope so, too.

If you have an interest in substitute teaching, please apply today. We have openings in our schools in Henniker, Weare, and at John Stark.
